Road Opening update, Posted June 2, 2008
There is about 11.5 feet of snow on the ground at Paradise (elev. 5,420 feet).
Cayuse Pass and the Stevens Canyon road are now open. Traffic can now move from Paradise to either Hwy 410 by way of Cayuse Pass, or to the Stevens Canyon entrance near Hwy 12. The road is in good condition, but there are still several feet of snow on the sides of the road. Due to unusually high snow levels and safety concerns, the most recent information indicates that Hwy 410 will be closed at least until June 5.
Stevens Canyon, Chinook and Cayuse Pass may have 20 minute delays due to the road construction. Thank you for your patience.
Grove of the Patriarchs and Ohanapecosh Campground are open.
July 3, 2008 Sunrise opens to traffic.
See the NPS Press Release dated May 19, 2008 regarding road and campground openings
Notice: Please contact WSDOT and Mt. Rainier National Park (360-569-2211) for road conditions and openings when planning your trip. These opening dates are tentative and may be delayed until after Memorial Day.
